Choosing the florist for your wedding is one of the most crucial areas of planning. They are a major part of your design team and you need someone that you can trust to get the job done flawlessly. We've got some tips and tricks for how to prepare for your floral meeting and what to ask!

Come Prepared

Before making an appointment, you'll want to have already booked your ceremony and reception venue. This will make it easier to discuss the space, what design you're going for, and what your specific needs will be. It's also a good idea to have a few inspiration photos to share with the florist to help convey exactly what you're going for.

Asking the Right Questions

Walking in with a list of questions is the best way to stay organized and make sure you get all the information you need to make the best decision. Here are some questions to consider adding to your list:

- Can you work within my budget?

This should be one of your first questions because there is no point getting invested in someone only to find out you can't afford them.

- What is your experience with doing weddings?

This is an important question because it tells you what kind of experience they have (are they more corporate or are they really well versed in weddings?)

- Can I see examples of your work?

This is a question you should be asking all of your vendors. You'll want to make sure that their aesthetic and style complements your own.

- How do you work with clients?

This is to make sure you both are on the same page about things like the number of consultations, sample bridal bouquet, and the general way the florist works.

- Who will be handling delivery, setup, and breakdown? Are there extra fees for that?

Sometimes proposals only consist of the cost of flowers and labor, but not the extra expenses that can quickly add up. Make sure you are aware of any costs you may not be anticipating.

After the Meeting

Sit down and take a look at all your questions and examples of each florist's work, and really think about who answered your questions to your standard, who you felt most comfortable with, and who you think is the best person to execute your vision. That should help decide who is the right fit for you.

With these tips and some preparation, you should have no problem finding the florist of your dreams!
