Branches are still HOT for 2012

March 4th

Branches are still a hot commodity for centerpieces designs, buffet pieces and escort card tables (or some call them placecard tables).

There are several types to choose from:

Curly Willow-these are perfect for the most organic look as when fresh, they are pliable and give us the ability to make some great shapes! Often we will hang glass vials from them so that they will hold single flowers, i.e. roses, orchids, or even tealights.

Birch Branches-these very straight dried branches are a darker brown color or you can also use them in white, which we love to use as well.

Kiwi Vine-one of my personal favorites because the dried kiwi vine gives some of the most unusual looks and can be used to create beautiful artistic designs!

Manzanita Branches-boy, these really are fun! These beauties offer sturdy bases to work with and are wonderful to hang lighting or floral decor from the branches.

Mitsumata Branches-offering a clean beautiful straight line, contemporary design is beautifully accomplished using these branches. We spray them in many colors for dramatic effects too!

Blooming Branches-including Pussy Willow, Cherry Blossom, Quince, Dogwood. Perfect because the blooms give added impact.

Styled Photo Shoot with SoftBox Media Photography

February 9th

In October, we had the pleasure of providing floral designs for SoftBox Media’s styled shoot at Murray Hill in Leesburg, Virginia.

We jumped at the chance to work with Lisa and Ian! Working together to provide the utmost in cutting edge photography for weddings, Lisa and Ian are a dream to work with. They worked with two other florists to get the most variety in the shoot. Mangan Jewelers provided the jewelry that was outstanding and really added to the look in some of the photographs.

As you can see the setting there at Murray Hill is just gorgeous! This really gives you a perfect look at the high impact photo ops that are on site.

We designed three bouquets:

Classic English Garden Bouquet of White Roses, Arabicum, and Green Trick Dianthus

Crescent Bouquet of Vibrant Colors

Lisa and Ian called the bouquet above “The Firecracker Bouquet”. Definitely a beauty with the wand-like handle. Perfect for the autumnal wedding!

Contemporary Bouquet boasting a Feather Collar with Roses and Brooches

We love the use of feathers! Incorporating the feathers in the bouquet and also as a collar really made the design. Also, brooches are a hot new trend of which this bouquet sported three! Geraldine roses and light pink nerine lilies with hints of green foliages show off this design.

We loved the opportunity to make boutonnieres for the shoot as well.

Thanks, Lisa and Ian! We loved providing designs for you.

Bergeron’s Eye Candy-Raspberry Bouquet

December 1st

Raspberry Bouquet

This fall was full of weddings for Bergerons. I wanted to share one of the bouquets that I created. Ulani, the bride, was looking for a bouquet that would give a presence of a garden full of berry-toned roses. Designed in a tear-drop shape, this bouquet was full of hybrid and miniature tea roses in rich tones of pinks and lavenders.

Enjoy!

Celebrating 90 Years with Pink Feather Boas!

September 23rd

This summer I had the awesome opportunity to celebrate with family for my grandmother’s 90th birthday! She looked fabulous and had a wonderful time.

On a hot summer Saturday night in July, 45 family and friends gathered at a yacht club in Virginia Beach to bring birthday wishes to her. The night was filled with a live jazz band, dancing and a sumptuous plated dinner.

For as long as I can remember, her favorite color is hot pink and she has a penchant for feathers. So, along with the feathers, I created clustered contempo garden bouquets for the tables. Individual place settings were marked with a napkin wrapped in short feather boas and a deep pink mokara orchid bloom.

Momma Kimel~we love you! Keep bringing light to us with your smile.

Simplicity in a centerpiece? Candles floating in tinted water with pink rose petals scattered at the base. Classic accents are achieved with a band of ribbon on the pedestal.
